MY NOOBIE ATTEMPT AT EDITORIAL DESIGN

The other course that I took along with thesis is Editorial and Publication Design, here are some of my attempts at working with graphic design stuff. The project was designing a magazine using a word that the whole class picked out. In this case, the word is Opaque. My magazine is a video game magazine.

BLOG LAYOUT

I have decided to change the layout of my blog. The other one I had feels too complicated for some reason. The blog still feels kinda empty, but I will try to put up more stuff soon!

INITIATION OF ANALOG
The conversion from analog to digital is being interpreted as an tribal chief performing an initiation ritual on his follower

 THE TURING TEST

The Turing Test was the philosophy for artificial intelligence. The test was essentially a lie detector for machines. If a machine passed, it is “intelligent”.

THE DIFFERENCE ENGINE
The Difference Engine is one of the first computers ever made to calculate complex, error-free mathematical tables. It was created by Charles Babbage in the 19th century, and it used steam power to generate power.

THE ENIAC
ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer. This computer was the first general-purpose electronic computer capable of being reprogrammed to solve different problems. It was created during World War II during a time where calculations such as artillery firing tables were greatly needed. After the war, it was used to calculate complex equations to the Hydrogen bomb.

THE THIRD APPLE
This illustration is a tribute piece to Steve Jobs. The conception of Apple by Steve Jobs is being compared to Isaac Newton and his story with the apple. The illustration also echoes the original Apple logo.

2D TO 3D
An illustration that shows the evolution of cartoons evolving from 2D to 3D, a big achievement that gave creators the ability to create a third dimension within the digital world. The robot in the illustration is designed to look like a toy to pay homage to Toy Story, the first full-featured film to be created entirely in computer generated imagery.

FACEBOARD
What would Facebook look like in a medieval fantasy setting?

APPLE VS. MICROSOFT
Gandalf vs. Dumbledore? Nope.. It's Steve Jobs vs. Bill Gates!

FROM UCLA TO STANFORD
